Topshop Nail Polish in Magpie

topshop nail varnish magpie holo glitter

Magpie (£6) is another one of the Topshop polishes I picked up during my mega June gift card rampage and it is just so, so pretty. It's a mixture of gold and silver holographic glitter, with both large and fine pieces on a clear base.

The amount of glitter makes the consistency rather thick - it's better to try and do one-three thin coats to get the level of coverage you want than to glob it all on at once. It does have a tendency to bunch up in one spot, but I just nudged or placed the pieces where the nail was looking a little bare and was happy with the result! In the picture I have two thin coats over a base of Barry M Silk in Pearl.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who tends to associate glitter with winter, but this polish is a perfect way to incorporate it into the warmer months. The glitter pieces in this sparkle hard when they catch the sun (although admittedly it's a little bit hard to tell in the picture - blame the gloomy weather in Sheffield last week) and can take both pastels and more vibrant colours to the next level. Definitely worth giving a whirl this summer!
