Matte Triangle/Chevron French Manicure

Despite having a blog that consists of 90% nail art pictures, let the record state that I'm under no false impressions about my skill level. I'm still a total novice when it comes to painting them in the first place. I don't really mind, though - every half-decent paint job is a victory when you only quit biting eight months ago! I did this basic French manicure using Barry M Gelly in Lychee and the Models Own nail art pen, then decided to mattify it afterwards with Bourjois' So Matt Top Coat. Being me, it was wonky in places, but was proud of my paint job, especially my ring finger (I take my small victories seriously).

However, my French manicure was not long for this world. I managed to capture these nails looking fairly neat about half an hour before I destroyed them beyond all recognition. Still not quite got the whole "sitting still until it dries and not doing stupid stuff like reaching into my handbag" thing down yet. If you guys have any more pro nail tips for me (other than not being an idiot), I'd love to hear them in the comments... lord knows I need all the help I can get!
